Fall brings us so much to be joyful about: pumpkin patches, apple-picking, hayrides, pumpkin spice lattes – the list goes on. Get ready to sip warm apple cider, pick the perfect pumpkin, and create cherished memories together. From sprawling urban pumpkin patches to charming farms that beckon with the allure of hayrides and corn mazes, our guide will help you navigate the vibrant tapestry of autumn experiences nearby.

Descanso Gardens - Carved

Now through October 30, thousands of carved pumpkins will line a brand new route through the gardens. Along with luminous jack-o-lanterns, see the Descanso Railroad lit up for the occasion, and new ghosts join the family of wood spirits carved by Chainsaw Jenna. It's bound to be a boo-tiful night at Descanso! Tickets range from $20-38 for members, $27-45 for non-members, and children's tickets range from $10-30.


Cal Poly Pomona Pumpkin Festival

Back for its 32nd year, Cal Poly Pomona's Pumpkin Fest has delighted folks far and wide with their month-long series of autumnal events and activities. The festival is home to 40,000 pumpkins, so you won't have trouble finding the perfect one for your home. After that, make your way to hay wagon rides, a petting farm, giant corn maze, duck races, a sunflower field, and more! Open 10AM-7PM Saturdays & Sundays 'til October 26 this year!

With locations in West LA, Torrance, and Brea this year plus a 2-day pop-up at The Original Farmers Market (October 18-19), Mr. Jack O'Lantern's is the place to be for pumpkin decorating! Plus family-friendly games and activities like candy corn hole, a bouncy house, petting/feeding cute animals, put-put golf, and more! With a large variety of pumpkins ranging from cute jack-be-little pumpkins to the biggest pumpkins weighing over 50 pounds, there's a perfect pumpkin for everybody!




Mr. Bones Pumpkin Patch

This patch has been running since 1987! Mr. Bones Pumpkin Patch is open to the public daily through October 31, and we recommend going as early as possible to beat the crowds. Their patch features pumpkins of all sizes, a super slide, giant rocking horses, a tipi village, a petting zoo, face painting, a straw maze, and tons of spooky photo ops for the whole family.

Established in 1976, this humble pumpkin patch has all the essentials for a perfect fall afternoon. From tractor rides and carnival games to gold mining and human hamster balls, The Pumpkin Patch will keep the kiddos occupied while you scope out the pumpkin patch and sip on cider. They also have a petting zoo with bunnies, piglets, goats, and chicks that will melt your heart.

Whittier Pumpkin Patch (and Christmas Trees come December) is a perfect, simple Eastside stop for Halloween fun. Come for the pumpkins, and stay for the pumpkin painting, tractor rides, gem mining, and a super slide area. The best part? Admission is free! But they're cash only for activities, so come prepared (or use the on-site ATM). You can visit thgrough October 31 between 9AM-8:30PM daily!

Peltzer Pumpkin Farm

Although this patch is a little farther than some of the others on this list, we promise you it's worth the journey! Located at Peltzer Winery, Peltzer Pumpkin Farm offers gem panning, pig races, a petting farm, pony rides, kettle corn, carnival games, a tractor garden, and so many more autumnal activities to make picking out your family's pumpkins a truly memorable experience. They also offer pumpkin painting classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the season, so you can enjoy decorating your new round, orange friend without the hassle of cleaning up at home. Entry is $2 Monday-Thursday and $4 Friday-Sunday!

Convenient farm-fresh produce and pumpkin picking in the SFV just off the 101! This family-owned and operated farm stand in Encino is what childhood memories are made of. With hundreds of pumpkins (including the warty kind), a scarecrow contest, a petting zoo, a corn maze, train and pony rides, this pumpkin patch is one of the city's most popular for good reason. Don't forget to grab a few cobs of their roasted corn!




Forneris Farms

Now through November 2, Forneris Farms are most well known for their tomatoes, but their fall pumpkin patch can't be missed! This old-fashioned farm stand has a tractor-pulled train ride, a petting zoo, pumpkins (duh), and one of the most impressive corn mazes we've ever seen. Admission is only $5 (cash only)!




Shawn's Pumpkin Patch

Shawn’s Pumpkin Patch gives you that countryside feeling even though it's conveniently nestled in the heart of the city. This year, the patch will have a giant shark slide, bungie trampolines, a petting zoo, train rides, a pumpkin bounce house, and pony rides for the young and restless. Rather than just picking your own pumpkin, we encourage you to carve and decorate your plump orange friend right on-site.

Tina’s Pumpkin Patch

Whether you like your pumpkins petite and orange or green and bumpy, Tina's has the perfect pumpkin for you. Located in the parking lot of the Westfield Fashion Square, this pumpkin patch is the perfect pit stop after doing some shopping and running errands. With pony rides, petting zoos, train rides, bouncers, an obstacle course, and a free straw maze, it doesn't get much more festive than this. Grab a wagon and get going! Both admission and parking are free! Runs through November 1.

Tanaka Farms

Pick your pumpkins straight from the vine at Tanaka Farms’ lovely patch in Irvine. To make your way around the 30 acres of land, you can either take a wagon ride with a pitstop at a pumpkin canyon followed by a stop-off for a “u-pick” session. Or, you can navigate the farm yourself with the drive-through option on weekends. Don't forget to stop by their pumpkin cannon! Open 7 days a week through November 2!

Up in Ventura County, Underwood Family Farms' annual Fall Harvest Festival is one of the most anticipated events of the season! Through October 31, the farm will transform into a 50-acre pumpkin patch complete with a corn stalk labyrinth, games, a chicken show, music, giant spiders (!), themed treats, and so much more. Weekday tickets are $16 at the gate. Weekend tickets are $25-32 online only.
